With football leagues in the country expected to return sometime at the end of November, Gor Mahia head coach Johnathan McKinstry has shared a plan that will help solve the anticipated fixture congestion.Leagues were expected to commence at the end of August but the delay was caused after the Football Kenya Federation Transition Committee postponed the league on three separate occasions before indefinitely putting it off.Two Kenyans looking to seal place in Confederation Cup Group StagesThis was after the top tier club CEOs vowed not to participate in a league that is not sanctioned by FIFA following the country’s suspension for government involvement in football.McKinstry is longing for the new season to start as he opened up on how the league and FKF Cup can be played without having a busy fixture schedule.“As preparations continue for the new Football Kenya Federation Premier League season, we eagerly await the release of the fixture list.##NAJAVA_MECA_6798264##Between 19/20 November and 24/25 June there are 32 weekends. If we remove Christmas weekend and the FIFA weekend in March, we are left with 30.In total the FKFPL needs 34 match days, and Football Kenya Federation Cup requires five for top flight clubs. Meaning we need a total of 39 match days. There is no need for the fixtures to be overly congested. One midweek fixture every three weeks is enough to play 39 matches in 30 weeks,” said McKinstry.Kenyan defender extends red hot scoring streak in EnglandThe 2022-2023 season is expected to end latest in June in order for the Federation to submit the names of the country’s CAF club competitions representatives.The congested fixture is likely to have a toll on the players especially after coming from a lengthy preseason that has been on for over two months.
