Tusker FC will not contest Wednesday’s ruling by the Football Kenya Federation (FKF) National Executive Committee (NEC) which voided the controversial 2021-22 FKF Premier League season. The Brewers won the season’s championship in a close contest with Kakamega Homeboyz, who finished second, to record their 13th title, one better than AFC Leopards.Maina, Okumu and Ayunga feature as Kenyans register mixed bag resultsNonetheless, since Kenya is serving an indefinite FIFA suspension over government interference, the Zurich-based world football governing body and CAF, the continental football organization, do not recognize the win, and Tusker did not represent the country in the CAF interclubs.”What’s important for us is to see football back as soon as possible, any further delays are not welcome. The title is inconsequential,” Tusker FC representative Charles Gacheru told Mozzart Sport.”It’s painful to lose that one title after a year of hard work, but it is not as important now as the need for football to resume in this country.”The photo you have all been waiting for….CHAMP13NS!!!! pic.twitter.com/wTnX4wg2TW— 🏆Tusker FC (@tusker_fc) June 12, 2022 Gacheru totally ruled out going to court, saying they are ready to play after four months of preseason and win the new season’s title. “Court for what purpose, what will we gain apart from delaying the league kick-off? Tusker are going to win the title again this coming season.”He called the season’s victory “pyrrhic.” “I’d rather lose that victory but all the eighteen teams get back to the pitch, that’s more important than saying, ‘we have one more cup’, even if we get our victory affirmed in court, we can not play in Africa.”Gacheru is, however, worried over the issue of relegation and promotion in the two top tier leagues, saying it could get protracted if not handled well, leading to further delays in the league kick-off. “I think that’s where FKF could get problems, but I believe that for us to move forward, all stakeholders must accept that something has to give way, there must be sacrifices and losses here and there.”In a letter to the FKF and Cabinet Secretary for Sports Ababu Namwamba, former FKF Competitions Manager Samson Cherop wants the NEC decision reversed, failure to which he is ready to sue.”This is a weighty matter and of great public interest. The “FKF NEC” has no powers to unilaterally nullify a league season that has been concluded. It is against fair administrative process for several clubs who anticipated to be promoted to the next league tiers. It is also curious to find that the decisions affected the leagues that were being managed by the caretaker committee and financed by taxpayers.”It looks like a revenge mission without considering the welfare of football clubs who spent considerable time and resources in honoring those league matches. For your information the High Court ruled that the caretaker committee was legally installed therefore any decisions they made are valid.##NAJAVA_MECA_6797170##”I humbly request upon the “FKF NEC” to relook at this and withdraw this decision and adhere to sporting merit by proceeding with the leagues from where the caretaker committee left and incase some clubs are aggrieved with promotions or relegations let the said clubs pursue dispute resolutions provided by FKF Statutes or Sports Tribunal. The “FKF NEC” should be alive to the fact that we are not operating in a vacuum. While you were away football leagues flourished and proceeded. Football never stopped waiting for you to come back.CAFCC: Sven Yidah and Lokale make through to the Group Stage”I look forward to receiving your response as soon as possible, to which I shall be at liberty to sue you and the “FKF NEC” and enjoin the affected football clubs.”The 2021-22 FKFPL season was taken over midway by the FKF Caretaker Committee after the NEC was disbanded by the former Cabinet Secretary for Sports Ambassador Amina Mohammed. This takeover led to FIFA, the world’s football governing body, suspending Kenya indefinitely from all football activities. The suspension still stands but is expected to be lifted soon after the government complied with demands to reinstate the disbanded office.
