National Super League side Mara Sugar have appointed former AFC Leopards midfielder Francis Xavier as their new head coach.The club was rendered coach-less last month when former Kenyan international John Baraza ditched the outfit for top flight Kakamega Homeboyz.Following the exit of Baraza, a number of tactician were rumoured to be eyeing the job however, it is Xavier who emerged as the best pick according to the club’s team manager Gilbert Ledama. ##NAJAVA_MECA_6806422##Xavier is not new to touchline duties as he served as an assistant coach at Mathare United in the past season and at some point, the club elevated him to the rank of interim head coach.The former Shabana midfielder also worked as coach Edward Manoah’s assistant at Vihiga United between 2016 and 2017, a season that saw the team get promoted to the top flight.The former Leopards team manager also worked as head coach at Wazito in 2013 where he was deputized by Frankline Obare and Francis Oduor.
