Peter Opiyo, Vincent Otieno and Newton Ochieng scored second half goals for Simba wa Nairobi after Lloyd Kavuchi had given the hosts a first-half lead.In his post-match analysis, the tactician opined that a John Ochieng injury tilted the game to City Stars’ favor. He went on to reveal that about first team players have been affected by the unspecified flu.“First half we were quite on top of it, then John Ochieng got injured, he took an elbow to the throat at around 30 minutes and in the final 15 minutes of the first half he was struggling a lot and he just could not continue, he was struggling to breath and that basically left us without midfielders,” he told Mozzart Sport.“I think you probably looked at the line up today and saw that there were a lot of people missing and to be honest at one-point last week we had 15 players out because of flu. We have been fantastic in terms of injuries, we have no serious injuries in the team at all but two weeks before the season starts we have a flu outbreak,” he added.Gor mahia to winning games during pre-season. pic.twitter.com/UCZSMVclRx— no context FKPL (@FkplOut) November 13, 2022 “Even the likes of Philemon and Dennis that trained for the first time this week on Saturday had to come in at halftime. Maybe only 3 or 4 players who started today have been in my primary XI in the last few weeks,”.The Irishman added that they had considered calling off the friendly match but is confident that the affected players will be available for the league opener against Nzoia Sugar on Saturday.“We had considered calling off the game a few days ago but we thought no, we are going to have injuries and suspensions throughout the season and it is important that the rest of the squad get time to play.. We will have a strong squad for the game against Nzoia next week and I think we will be in good shape,” he concluded.CAFWCL: AS FAR dethrone Mamelodi Sundowns as Simba Queens settle for fourth
