Kenyan midfielder Philip Mayaka has revealed plans to set up a foundation in Mumias, Kakamega County with the aim of offering students scholarships.The midfielder who plies his trade with Colorado Springs in the US is planning to partner with school games football giants, St Peter’s Mumias Boys High School.Clarke Oduor features in English FA Cup victoryDespite being an alumnus of St.Anthony High School Kitale, Mayaka opted to team up with his former principal, Cosmas Nabungolo who is now at the helm of St. Peter’s.While visiting the school alongside his father, Mayaka announced his plans to set up a foundation to help needy students earn scholarships. ##NAJAVA_MECA_6816164##“On Friday together with my dad I was privileged to meet with St. Peter’s Mumias principal Mr Nabungolo to talk about how we can nurture talents and help students achieve their goals. We are in discussion to launch a foundation that will help students get scholarships,” Mayaka said on Twitter. Back in 2021, Football Kenya Federation (FKF) inaugurated St Peters’ Mumias School as an FKF Center of Excellence, following the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between the two parties.The deal which is expected to expire in March 2026 saw FKF commit to offering the school technical support and help in designing football programs for both the elite football team and other students in school, as well as training the school’s coaching staff.
