McKinstry lauds fighting K’Ogalo spirit

Gor Mahia tactician Jonathan McKinstry has reiterated that K’Ogalo diehards should embrace themselves to enjoy a team that will fight to the last minute following their 1-0 win over Nzoia Sugar in their opening FKFPL match for the 2022/23 campaign.A Benson Omalla headed goal in the second half was all the record Kenyan champions needed to end a winless streak against the Salim Babu coached side that had been in place since February 2020.##NAJAVA_MECA_6824735##Speaking after the match, the Irish tactician noted that one of the good things about the team he has at the moment is their great fighting spirit, a factor evidenced in the match against Nzoia when they had to play with a numerical disadvantage after Ernest Wendo’s injury.”One of the big things about this K’Ogalo team is that the fans will have a team that will fight for every minute and will not give up no matter what the situation. You saw when Ernest Wendo had to go out we played for 15 minutes with 10 men but the guys worked extremely hard and we made sure the ball did not come to our box often. They worked really hard and deserved the result,” Mckinstry said.Is Gor Mahia’s pre-season form a thing of concern? The coach also acknowledged that they anticipated a tough match against Nzoia considering they had not won a match in the tie for more than two years, noting that the display from his team in the first half was convincing enough.”To be honest we knew it was going to be a tough game and Nzoia have a great record against K’Ogalo in recent years. That is our first win in a few seasons against them. We knew we had to come out here and match them on the physical level. We were the team on top in the first half and I felt we could have going in the lead,” he added.
