Tusker FC head coach Robert ‘ Lion’ Matano has warned his side against complacency after the opening day win over Kakamega Homebozy saying that they have to keep working and do well in their coming league assignments. The defending league champions broke a six-year ‘opening day curse’ to beat Homeboyz at their backyard. Tusker had not won an opening match of the season since 2016 before downing last season’s league runner up at the Bukhunu Stadium courtesy of goals from Lawrence Luvanda and Jackson Macharia.##NAJAVA_MECA_6833783##The seasoned tactician wants his charges to keep working and keep improving saying the day one win should not make his charges relax.”We will pick it from there. There’s no room for relaxing we have to keep working hard,” he told the club media.Matano further lauded his team’s performance against Homeboyz saying they were dominant from the first to the final whistle.”The game was good. We dominated the match from the word go and the three points are good for us. I am happy that we won, what we have been doing in training is what we did on matchday, ” he said.📸| Some bit of action from the weekend, where we won 2-1 away to Homeboyz in Kakamega.#KenyaMilele #Brewers4Life pic.twitter.com/HMS8Smk792— 🏆Tusker FC (@tusker_fc) November 21, 2022 He attributed his team’s fluidity to the fact that the squad was not tinkered much after the 2021/22 FKF Premier League campaign.”We still have the same team; the players understand each other better and we came to Kakamega with a purpose. As champions, we play like champions and I am happy with our combination play,” Matano concluded.Next for Tusker is a home match against a bogey Nairobi City Stars side, Simba wa Nairobi will be seeking redemption after losing their opening match to Bidco United on Sunday at the Nyayo National Stadium .
