Harambee Stars captain Michael Olunga scored a brace as his club Al Duhail qualified defeated Al-Gharafa 4-3 in a FIFA Referees Cup quarter final match played on Monday evening.The first half ended in a 2-1 win for Gharafa. Algerian striker Ishak Belfodil scored a brace for Gharafa while Olunga scored the lone goal for Al Duhail. The second half went Duhail’s way. It is aimed at equipping match officials who are officiating at the FIFA World Cup in Qatar, the tournament began on Sunday and will be played up to mid December.”The FIFA Referee Cup, part of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, has been launched in co-operation and co-ordination between the Qatar Stars League and FIFA, and in line with the preparations and arrangements for the referees officiating in the 2022 World Cup matches.“This tournament is being held from November 10 to 26, 2022, at the Qatar SC Stadium, with the participation of 12 clubs, divided into three groups – Group A (Al Gharafa, Umm Salal, Al Duhail, Al Khor), Group B (Al Markhiya, Al Arabi, Qatar SC, Al Shamal), Group C (Al Rayyan, Al Wakrah, Al Sailiya, Al Ahli),” a communique by QSL about the tournament read.In the other quarter final match, Qatar Sports Club progressed to the semi final after beating Al Arabi 2-1.
