Ten players signed as Mathare United embark on recruitment spree

Mathare United are patching up their squad, albeit late, as they get ready for the already underway 2022-23 Football Kenya Federation Premier League, FKFPL season.The Slum Boys, still without a permanent coach, but likely to rehire Francis Kimanzi, have signed ten players to add on to five they retained from last season.Mathere witnessed mass exodus of players after they pulled out of the protested 2021-22 season, citing among others lack of finances. Sharks) and Chris Owino (Talanta FC).Mathare United like Wazito FC and Vihiga United are yet to begin the season due to last week’s Sports Dispute Tribunal, SDT order temporarily putting a stop to relegation/promotion from last season’s FKFPL and National Super League, among others. We support the decision of the federation (FKF) to scrap the season.”Mathare are yet to settle on a head coach, with the preparations being handled by MYSA volunteers, however, according to a close source, former coach Francis Kimanzi is poised to assume the seat.Kimanzi has been seen guiding the team of coaches conducting the team’s training sessions.
