One time Kenyan champions Sofapaka and inconsistent Posta Rangers pulled the same weight when put on a premier league scale.Posta Rangers were playing their first game of the new season while Sofapaka were hunting for their first point after falling to Bandari last weekend. After playing cautiously for more than half an hour, the first real chance of the game fell to Sofapaka.David Kasirye floated the ball in the area after outmuscling Swaleh Pamba but Titus Achesa’s headed effort was helped out fkr a corner by Elvis Osok 32 minutes in the game.Tough duel at home the points are sharedFT Sofapaka 0-0 Posta Rangers@OyandoRonny#BatotoBaMungu pic.twitter.com/T7vbanXgTJ— Sofapaka FC (@FC_Sofapaka) November 26, 2022 That attempt by Sofapaka opened up the match as Posta created an attack of their own two minutes later, Cavin Odongo being on the end of it but blasting his effort over the bar.Brian Musa, who joined the mailmen recently after parting ways with Wazito FC was running the show in midfield, dictating matters with a blend of short and long passes.Nixon Omondi was the first to go into the books of the referee after he manhandled Eliud Lokuwam with one minute left to play in the opening period. From the resultant freekick, Posta took it short for Musa but he hit his effort over the bar.Kasirye could have given Sofapaka the lead with literally the last kick of the first half from outside the box but his effort went just inches wide with Samuel Njau seemingly well beaten.Second halfOn resumption, John Kamau made a change to Posta’s side, bringing in Jackson Dwang for Odongo as he sought to inject more firepower in search for a goal.Set for the first match of the day.Ruaraka looks terrible. The change saw Titus Achesa drop back to the leftback position as Wepo took the right wing and Oketch the left.Kasirye noticed Njau off his line and went for the long range but the goalkeeper managed to track back on time and keep the score barren. With 20 minutes left to play, Kamau brought in Caleb Olilo, resting Lokuwam, with Ouma responding with a double change four minutes later as Lucky Musyoki and Kevin Okoth came on for Manga and Oketch.Patrick Otieno sprint on the right side past Titus Achesa was the last piece of action for the speed merchant as Brian Otieno came on for the final eight minutes.A minute after coming in, Brian Otieno had the chance to break the deadlock after a neat exchange with Timothy Otieno, then Dwang, but his final shot hit the side netting. With regular time already done, Ouma brought in the youthful Jacob Onyango for Kasirye to try and look for the winner in the three minutes of stoppage time added.Perhaps, Kamau should have considered bringing in Brian Otieno much earlier as he showed moments of brilliance, including a last minute strike from the box but he hit the side netting again, and the match ended with no goals.Sofapaka starting XI: Mathias Kigonya, Ambrose Sifuna, Nixon Omondi, Stephen Okola, David Nshimirimana, Sebastian Sunday, Baron Oketch, Roy Okal, Titus Achesa, Roddy Manga, Daniel KasiryeUnused subs: Kevin OmondiPosta Rangers Starting XI: Samuel Njau, Elvis Osok, Michael Apudo, Swaleh Pamba, Kennedy Owino, Benard Ondiek, Patrick Otieno, Brian Musa, Timothy Otieno, Cavin Odongo, Eliud LokuwamUnused subs: Nathan Brandon
