What happened to the Soldier Boys? Sharks beat poor Ulinzi Stars

Kariobangi Sharks recorded their third ever win over Ulinzi Stars as they beat the Soldiers 3-2 at Kasarani Annex on Sunday afternoon. With the defeat, the Soldiers are without a point after two matches having lost to AFC Leopards in the season opener while Sharks moved to four points. Two of the goals for Sharks were a deflection by Ulinzi Stars from initial attempts by Geoffrey Onyango and Fortune Omoto, with Tyson Otieno scoring the third while Boniface Muchiri and Hillary Simiyu scored for the Soldiers.Ulinzi were dealt a blow early in the first half when Bonventure Muchika had to come off with injury, with Francis Omondi coming on to slot at the heart of the backline.Muchiri opened the scoring at the half hour mark after a neat exchange of passes, smashing home to give the Soldiers the lead. The goal opened up the game, and Kariobangi Sharks hit back in an attempt to get the leveler. And leveler they got, and more!Seven minutes after Muchiri’s opener, Geoffrey Onyango equalized for Sharks after his freekick from outside the box came off the wall mounted by Ulinzi and into the net.Muluya made a change after the first goal, introducing Paul Odhiambo for Mohammed Ohukifi as they sought to take the lead.Five minutes later, Kariobangi Sharks took the lead after Fortune Omoto’s strike from inside the area was deflected into the net once again, this time by the makeshift centerback Omondi.Sharks were attacking in huge numbers. And their efforts paid off once again. Odhiambo chested the ball down and Tyson Otieno thundered home the third goal for Sharks to see them head into the break with a three goal lead.On resumption, Ulinzi came back with an intent of finding at least a goal to get back in the game, and to do so they made a double change 11 minutes into the second as Elly Saenyi and Masita Masuta came on for Clinton Omondi and Enosh Ochieng.Hillary Simiyu reduced the deficit with 20 minutes to play, heading home from close range after Sharks defenders failed to clear a cross into the box. With just a goal left to at least get a point in the match, Ulinzi concentrated on lofting more balls into their attacking third in search of the equalizer.Staphod Odhiambo was ready to pull the trigger after receiving service from Omar Mbongi but he was adjudged to have been offside. For the final two minutes, Seda brought in Moses Shikanda for Shariff Musa as Sharks sought to protect the one goal lead.Kariobangi Sharks Starting XI: John Otieno, Fredrick Alushula, Geoffrey Onyango, Dan Guya, Kevin Luke Otiala, Keith Imbali, Tyson Otieno, Fortune Omoto (Kevin Wangaya 66′), Shariff Musa, Mohammed Ohukifi ( Paul Odhiambo 32′)Unused subs: Gedion OgwenoUlinzi StarsStarting XI: Stephen Ochieng, Swaleh Chacha, Omar Mbongi, Bonventure Muchika (Francis Omondi 24′), Boniface Andayi, Benard Ongoma, Clinton Omondi (Elly Saenyi 56′), Staphod Odhiambo, Enosh Ochieng (Masita Masuta 56′), Hillary Simiyu, Boniface MuchiriUnused subs: Sylvaine Omondi
