There are five African clubs who are competing at the biggest stage in football this year – the World Cup. And ahead of the crucial matches in the group stage, all five of them are still in the mix for the place in the knockout phase. Some of them are all but eliminated (Cameroon, Tunisia), others have already qualified (Senegal), while Morocco and Ghana hold the destiny in their own hands. And Morocco coah Walid Regragui thinks these results show that African football heads in the right direction and that nations participating in this World Cup can compete with any teams from other continents.Morocco’s Coach, Walid Regragui won the CAF Champions League and Moroccan League with Wydad Casablanca.Morocco have not lost a game under him. They are the first team to beat Belgium in the World Cup group stage since 1994, and keep a WC clean sheet against Croatia since 2006. pic.twitter.com/Hm4LZSsl9O— Africa Facts Zone (@AfricaFactsZone) November 29, 2022 Speaking ahead of the last group match against the already eliminated Canada, Morocco coach talked about his team, but also about other African nations.“We, at the start, without doing politics, we are already going to talk about football and we are defending Morocco and Moroccans. That’s the first thing. Then, of course, we are also Africans and that’s the priority. Like Senegal, like Ghana, like Cameroon and Tunisia, we hope to show that African football has passed a stage. We have often been decried in the past by saying that the level African football was not good. On this World Cup I think any African team competed with South American and European teams” said Regragui.Planing for the nation! 🧠Walid Regragui is the first Moroccan coach to win a #FIFAWorldCup match. 🇲🇦Historical moments.. ✨@EnMaroc | @walidregraguiof pic.twitter.com/XTEr6pVcwf— CAF (@CAF_Online) November 27, 2022 And naturally, Morocco coach thinks that only five places at the World Cup from such a continent as Africa is not enough.“It showed that we necessarily deserved more places in the future to hope one day to win the World Cup. Afterwards, necessarily, by our religion and by our origins, for a first World Cup in the Middle East and in the Arab world , there are people who will identify with us. Inevitably we are examples and we hope to make them happy. If they can see us a little like a standard bearer, we will be happy to make them happy if we can get through” said Regragui.World Cup riots in Brussels after Morocco beat BelgiumThe Morocco coach was modest enough to credit only players for their great display against Belgium, which resulted in a 2-0 win.“It’s the players. I’ve always said it and I’ll say it again. It’s good to talk about it, but a coach always does more than what’s necessary. I’ve always said that it’s was the players who coached. There are many crooks in football, coaches who want to make people believe that they are magicians. But when you have good players, it’s always easier for the coach. When you manage to make them adhere, it’s even better. I bring what I know how to do, wherever I’ve been. I try to give them as much confidence as possible, a solid base. Afterwards, they are the ones who give me right or wrong” said Morocco coach.Wednesday, Nov 30th18:00: (10.0) Tunisia (5.00) France (1.33) D18:00: (7.00) Australia (3.60) Denmark (1.58) D22:00: (5.20) Poland (3.70) Argentina (1.70) C22:00: (5.70) Saudi Arabia (3.80) Mexico (1.63) C
