Kakamega Homeboyz FC head coach John Baraza was impressed by the performance of his young defender John Otieno in the 1-0 win over KCB on Sunday afternoon at the Kasarani Annex. The lanky defender, who was re-signed by the club in the just concluded transfer window was fielded in the defensive midfield position and put in a show. He screened his back four well and was also crucial in defending long balls when the Bankers resorted to dumping the balls into Homeboy’s penalty area in the closing stages of the match.##NAJAVA_MECA_6854015##His performance caught the eye of many and his coach was equally impressed. In an interview, Baraza explained why he fielded the Kenya U-20 player in that position and backed him to become a better player in the future.“His performance was good for a young boy, he gives us options. He is a stopper but against KCB we fielded in midfield and he gave us that still in that area. He is a young boy and has room for development and improvement. I believe that he will get better with time, he will become a great player,” he stated.Baraza joins Homeboyz three weeks ago from National Super League side, Mara Sugar FC. He had served at Mara for half a season before he was roped in to replace Bernard Mwalala who moved to Ulinzi Stars. The win over KCB saw the Homeboyz recover from opening day defeat to Tusker FC to pick their first three points of the season. Next for them is an away game against Kenya Police FC on Saturday. The match will be staged at the Ulinzi Sports Complex starting from 2 PM. Baraza will be hoping to get one over the ambitious law enforcers who lost their opening match of the season to KCB just under a fortnight ago.Former Sofapaka duo among new signings at Mara Sugar
