Kenya was suspended between February and November 2022 over government interference after former Sports CS Amina Mohammed disbanded the federation and installed a caretaker committee to run football activities in the country, his successor, Ababu Namwamba has since reinstated the federation.##NAJAVA_MECA_6853967##Kenya had been handed the 2018 CHAN hosting rights but unpreparedness saw the rights taken away by CAF. Kuria now says that country will table a joint bid alongside other countries from the region. He took to social media after watching the Wales vs England Cup match alongside Namwamba on Tuesday night.”Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Rwanda, Burundi, DRC, Ethiopia & South Sudan will jointly bid to host the Africa Cup of Nations in 2027. Tonight, we received valuable tips from UK High Commissioner on the sidelines of the England-Wales WC Match @JaneMarriottUK, ” he tweeted. The country will first however have to deal with infrastructural headaches as currently, no Stadium in Kenya can host a CAF or FIFA-sanctioned match as they do not meet the required standards. The biggest stadia in the country Moi Kasarani and Nyayo National Stadium both need to undergo upgrading to meet the required standards.🚨 Confirmed: Tanzania will bid to host the 2027 AFCON tournament. 🇹🇿🏆CAF should give this chance to Tanzania and they won’t regret it. Tanzanians really love football and they will turn up at every game to support whoever is playing. 😄#TotalEnergiesAFCON2027 #Tanzania pic.twitter.com/tZvi0ArUit— #Qatar2022 ✪ (@MickyJnr__) May 28, 2022 The idea of the region hosting the biannual premier Africa competition in 2027 is not entirely a new subject.
