Kasembeli’s second half strike sinks Sofapaka at Sudi

Football Kenya Federation Premier League side Nzoia Sugar registered their first win of the season after humbling the 2009 champions Sofapaka 1-0 at Sudi Stadium on Saturday. The two teams dropped points in their opening two rounds of the season and were looking to gather maximum points for the first time in the campaign that got underway two weeks ago. Nzoia lost their opening encounter to Gor Mahia by a solitary goal before playing Bandari to a goalless draw in front of their home fans in the second match of the season. ##NAJAVA_MECA_6867056##Sofapaka on the other hand fell 2-1 to Bandari in the opener before labouring for a barren draw in the following game against Posta Rangers. However, it was Nzoia who were lucky to end the winless start after finding the back of the net inside the ten minutes of the game to garner three points. The game was poised to end in a draw, however the second half changes rung by coach Salim Babu breached the Sofapaka defence that had managed to contain pressure for the better part of the game. The Sugar Millers got the match winning goal through second half substitute Leonard Kasembeli who became the first player to net the first goal for the club this season.
