Ulinzi Stars recorded their fist win of the season as they saw off Posta Rangers 1-0 at the Ulinzi Sports Complex, Lang’ata on Saturday afternoon. The Benard Mwalala coached side came into the game on the back of two losses in their initial rounds in the season while Posta were looking to build in their barren draw with Sofapaka from the previous match.Boniface Muchiri and Hillary Simiyu proved just what good a pair they are again as they won maximum points for Ulinzi, both having scored in the loss to Kariobangi Sharks.Ulinzi Stars installs electronics board at the Ulinzi Complex, Kenyas first stadium with electronic boards. pic.twitter.com/Uisn73ZaLe— Vincent Ooro (@scentor) December 3, 2022 Hillary Simiyu opened the scoring for the Soldiers after 36 minutes, finishing off Boniface Muchiri’s initial thunderous freekick that had been parried by Samuel Njau but just far enough for Simiyu who made no mistake as he nudged the ball into the net. Before the goal, Simiyu had another chance to give Ulinzi the lead after clashing with Swaleh Pamba and Njau but Kennedy Owino cleared the ball off the line.Caleb Olilo was a constant threat for Posta Rangers in the first half, including a well executed cross that Timothy Otieno and company did not take advantage of.Sylvaine Ricks Omondi was making his Premier League as well as one for the four-time champions having joined them in off-season. He was shaky initially, understanding having in mind that he was playing at the highest level in the country, but he grew into the game as time progressed.##NAJAVA_MECA_6867055##There were no changes made by the teams at the start of the second half but both sides came with different plans seeking to take the advantage. Ulinzi sought to cushion their lead while Posta were out to get an equalizer and stage a comeback. For Ulinzi, almost everything revolved around Muchiri. His link up play with Simiyu was something of beauty. He took every deadball on the offensive half, each one of them being a threat but they coudnt capitalize on those.Ulinzi Stars Starting XI: Sylvaine Ricks Omondi, Swaleh Chacha, Omar Mbongi, Bonface Andayi, Benard Ongoma, Clinton Omondi, John Kago, Hillary Simiyu (Enosh Ochieng), Staphod Odhiambo (Mark Bikokwa 60′), Boniface MuchiriUnused subs: Stephen Ochieng, Alex MasindePosta Starting XI: Samuel Njau, Elvis Osok, Michael Apudo, Swaleh Pamba, Kennedy Owino, Benard Ondiek, Patrick Otieno, Vincent Wasambo, Timothy Otieno (Brian Marita), Jackson Dwang’ (Cavin Odongo 57′), Caleb Olilo (Lewis Shivachi)Unused subs: Nathan Brandon
