Anguish engulfs Wazito players owing to prolonged lack of league action

Three weeks into the new 2022-23 Football Kenya Federation Premier League, FKFPL and Wazito FC are yet to taste action, and the situation is causing unease within the playing unit.”Each day we wake up and train, but when the weekend comes, we just sit there and wish we could be out there playing league matches like the rest of the clubs, it’s a boring routine that’s now taking a toll on us,” a player who requested anonymity told Mozzart Sport. The former big spenders alongside Mathare United and Vihiga United are affected by a relegation/promotion suit before the Sports Dispute Tribunal, SDT and hence were temporarily removed from fixtures until the case is heard and determined.##NAJAVA_MECA_6867616##In the case whose verdict is expected on Tuesday, APS Bomet FC and Kona Rangers challenged a decision of the FKF National Executive Committee, NEC to scrap last season’s FKFPL, Women’s Premier League, the National Super League, NSL among others, which were presided over by the government appointed FKF Transition Committee. The Executive also froze relegation/promotion, but the SDT temporarily reversed the decision, pending the outcome of the main case. With majority clubs now engaged in various leagues, Wazito are finding it difficult to arrange friendly games to keep their form and competitiveness.”It’s a difficult situation, most clubs are now focused on their respective leagues, and will not spend on friendlies. We hope and pray that the tribunal will deliver justice on Tuesday so that we can move on. Starting the league late will be disadvantageous to us and we don’t want any further delays,” an administrator at the club disclosed said.Wazito were originally scheduled to play Gor Mahia on Saturday in a week three fixture. To keep themselves busy, K’Ogalo played a friendly against FKF Division 2 side Creative Hands FC, hammering them 10-2.
