Four things we learnt from FKFPL Week 3

The Football Kenya Federation Premier League 2022-23 season quietly entered Week 3 over the weekend as the Qatar World Cup continued to hog the headlines. The World Cup entered the knockout stage and as expected it was the talk of town especially on the internet.Back to the FKFPL, six matches, which served varied results, were on the cards. In total, the fixtures produced eight goals, with Nairobi City Stars versus Talanta FC being the most scoring match with three goals. Interestingly, all the games produced a winner, with 1-0 score line the most recorded. So, what did we learn from the Week? There’s urgent need to have the league back on televisionTusker FC versus AFC Leopards game at the Kasarani Stadium was one of the highlights of the Week, but unfortunately if you didn’t make it to the stadium you missed the action, so unfair. To nip poor officiating, already rearing its ugly head, in the bud, we need our game back on television. Thanks to some vigilant fans, an incident in which the match referee was reportedly beaten was recorded, hopefully, action will be taken against the responsible club and players. Our only prayer is that the rumor of a possible return of Supersport as the league’s broadcast partner comes true.Without selfless management, money can’t buy you successTwo games into the new season, and Police FC, who were supposed to be the club to beat this season, after signing the who is who locally, are yet to taste victory. The team lost their second game 1-0 to visiting Kakamega Homeboyz FC, prompting assistant coach Musa Otieno to resign.😂 😂 😂#FKFPL pic.twitter.com/d2rDdBSpzr— Ole Teya (@Kevin_teya) December 4, 2022 According to grapevine, there’s a serious disconnect between the club’s management and the technical bench, with accusations of interference rife. It goes without saying that if the Police FC will not get their management in order, then the huge sums they splashed in signing big names will go to waste. These things can be done! For the very, very first time in Kenyan football, we saw LED advertising boards in use in one of our stadiums. It was a refreshing sight at the newly built Ulinzi Sports Complex in Lang’ata, Nairobi as Ulinzi Stars FC hosted Posta Rangers FC. ##NAJAVA_MECA_6865805##These are things we only see abroad in more organized leagues, but they can also be replicated here, of course, with a little more effort. I want to believe companies will soon be booking advertising space with Ulinzi Stars during their games. Ndovu ni KuuIf you intend to win the league this season, purpose to stop Tusker FC on their tracks. The coach Robert Matano side means business, ignore them at your own peril. In three games, they have bagged maximum points, a clear message of intent. However, multiple Kenyan champions Gor Mahia were not in action.
