Scottland-based forward dreams of representing Kenya in 2026 FIFA World Cup

With the 2026 FIFA World Cup expanding to 48 teams, Kenyan forward Jonah Ayunga has opened up on his plans to feature for Harambee Stars in the intercontinental tourney.The 25-year-old is eligible to play for Kenya despite being born in England to a Kenyan father and English mother, having never represented the Three Lions even at junior level.Rattled Aussems hopes to have unregistered players for Sofapaka clashAyunga was however been called up to the Harambee Stars squad back in 2018 but failed to feature after picking up an injury which remains his only national team call-up.The Brighton and Hove Albion graduate who is currently in the books of Scottish side St. Mirren laid bare his plans to don the Harambee Stars jersey in the next edition of the World Cup.“I’m hoping to get back involved with Kenya. I’m still just waiting to hear from them. Whenever they give me the call I’ll be ready to go.I think they’re upping the number of teams in the World Cup next time around as well, which definitely gives you hope you can get there one day. I’m still at a good age and hopefully I’ll be in with the team soon. It’s been great so far. I’ve been tuning in to all the Australia games and it’s been great to see Keanu getting on. Zoo FC puts tumultuous past behind, seek new beginningIt’s crazy to see him there. I’ve been speaking to him whilst he’s been out there and he says it’s just been surreal.
