Newly Zesco United head coach George ‘Chicken’ Lwandamina has challenged his players to build a successful legacy at the club, just like those who came before them did..The four-time league-winning coach with the club was speaking on Wednesday when he was officially introduced to the ZESCO United squad following the announcement of his reappointment last weekend. He called upon everything at the club from the playing unit to the management to pull together to ensure they get Zesco’s fading glory back.New coach for Ian Otieno at Zesco United“I think you know where we took Zesco United during my time here. I feel we can do it again. I am happy to be back here because I feel we still have unfinished business. I spoke to them(players) about the need to return that fearful tag that we had both at local and international level. This is not about me only but about a system that works together, pulling in the same direction. It is the players, management, technical bench, sponsors and supporters working together then success will follow,” he said as quoted on the club’s website.Zesco is home to the Kenyan duo of goalkeeper Ian Otieno and forward Vincent Oburu, and Lwandamina believes that he has the right players for the job. However, he has called upon the unit to be ambitious and disciplined, to even dream of playing for their respective national teams, as he belives that is always the source of success“The most important thing for them is to be ambitious and disciplined. I expect that from them because that’s what breeds success. If they can have the appetite to play at national team and become professionals, then we can improve. I know a lot has changed here since I left but I believe we have just missed the part where we need to inculcate responsibilities in them so that they also understand that ZESCO United is the most feared team. Today any team feels like they can beat us. We need to change this narrative,” he added.##NAJAVA_MECA_6874287##Commenting on his return to the club for a third stint, Chicken noted that he made the decision because he believes he was part of building the Zesco brand and he should protect it by all means from going down.“Zesco United has everything. It is a big brand that I helped build as such I am part of it. I need to protect it from going down. Everyone here will be expected to work towards that goal. These players know exactly what I expect from them. No one will relax here because they know Chicken George,” he finished.
