Petra calls for consultative meeting as Sports Tribunal throws FKF off balance

At a time it looked like normalcy was creeping back into the Kenyan football after a turbulent one year period, the Sports Dispute Tribunal (SDT) has thrown the spanner into the works, leaving Doris Petra, the acting Football Kenya Federation (FKF) President calling for a consultative meeting of its members.”I think it’s about time we held a consultative meeting with our members. The issues emerging from the recent Tribunal ruling are weighty and affect everybody from top to bottom,” Petra told Mozzart Sport. On Tuesday, the SDT quashed a decision of the FKF National Executive to scrap some of last season’s leagues that were run by the government appointed FKF Transition Committee and ice promotions and relegations. Some of the leagues that were affected include the FKF Premier League, FKFPL Women’s Premier and the National Super League (NSL). FKF Leagues to proceed despite SDT ruling”…having stated the foregoing, it will be evident that by now that we have come to the conclusion that the decision of the National Executive Committee has no legal foundation, is a nullity, and cannot be sustained. It is accordingly quashed,” SDT chairman John Ohaga ruled.##NAJAVA_MECA_6873851##Ohaga further faulted the decision of the Cabinet Secretary for Sports Ababu Namwamba to reinstate the FKF Executive in line with the FIFA demands as illegal, giving him 30 days to give away forward.”If the Tribunal thinks that we’re in office illegally then it means that everything should be grounded, including the leagues that have started,” Petra said.In an interview with the People Daily, Ababu, without giving much, said that his quest to streamline sports in the country is unstoppable. “I’m not getting into that, I’m busy getting football and sports in general back on track. I will not be distracted by anyone.”Meanwhile, the SDT ruling has not been fully served in writing to the FKF, weekend league fixtures will go on as scheduled.
