French-born Cameroonian defender Evan Ndicka has decided to sign for Arsenal when his Eintracht Frankfurt contract expires on 30 June. The 23-year-old giant was a big desire of Jose Mourinho at Roma, but Edu and Mikel Arteta have apparently presented the best career move for the strong centre-back.##NAJAVA_MECA_6881123##The Gunners had loaned out Pablo Mari to Serie A new boys Monza before the start of the season, leaving Gabriel Magalhaes as the only senior left-footed centre-half at the club. The Italian side will trigger an obligatory purchase option if they avoid relegation from the Italian top tier. Arteta has favoured having naturally left-footed and right-footed centre-halves playing on their relevant sides.Ndicka is a regular for Eintracht Frankfurt in the Bundesliga and started all of their league and Champions League games this season, with one start in the German Cup. He also started the UEFA Super Cup defeat to Real Madrid. He has managed to help keep five clean sheets in his 23 appearances this season.Reports that #Arsenal have agreed a free transfer for Evan Ndicka this summer. Strong, quick, 6”4, left footed centre back who can play LB. This is the kind of shrewd deal that improves squad depth, whilst allowing us to add level raisers elsewhere. #afc pic.twitter.com/DHHYAOzgbt— Adam Keys (@adamkeys_) December 9, 2022 Despite being just 23, he has played 119 times in the German top flight, scoring nine goals and helping with seven assists. He has made 17 appearances as a left-back and played for the French youth side nine times from under-16 to under-21 level but is yet to receive a senior call-up. Maybe the Indomitable Lions could yet tempt him into representing the country of his ancestors. What is certain is that Arsenal are getting a quality defender – and they’re getting him on a free transfer. That’s a great piece of business.
