Sports CS Ababu Namwamba has given an update on the progress that he has made in his bid to bring South African broadcaster SuperSport back to Kenyan football.Before even assuming office, Namwamba had made it clear that he wants the South African broadcaster credited for giving Kenyan the much-needed visibility back. Supersport ditched Kenyan football in 2017 for breach of contract after the federation opted to expand the Kenyan Premier League from 16 to 18 teams. His presence fueled speculation that indeed the company could consider the Kenyan market again.Asked whether he has made any strides in his efforts to lure the broadcast giant back, Namwamba said that he has held fruitful talks with the company and that they have made some meaningful progress in their engagements.“… Yes, I have made progress in my discussions with SuperSport, and invited Multichoice, in Nairobi and they came today, they were part of our Jamhuri Day celebration and I have just finished a substantive meeting with the multi-choice Africa CEO and we have made good progress in our discussions to get Supersport back into Kenyan sports,” he said.Multichoice CEO Fhulu Badugela is at Nyayo watching AFC vs Sofapaka.
