Newly appointed Francis Baraza has described the project of raising Kenya Police’s profile into a household name in Kenyan football as the strongest pulling factor in securing his signature from Tanzania.A week ago, the former player turned tactician, was announced as the new boss at the law enforcers replacing Sammy ‘Pamzo’ Omollo who was sacked after losing the opening two games in the 2022/2023 Football Kenya Federation Premier League.Sacked Pamzo relieved after Kenya Police exitSpeaking after managing his first game that ended in a barren stalemate against Bandari in a match played at the Kasarani Stadium on Monday, Baraza who led Sony Sugar to the league title in 2006, revealed that it became difficult to turn down the alluring task that presented itself back in the country when Police sought after his services.“Police actually called me from Tanzania and requested for my services. As a coach, you should not only take teams that are already well established. Apart from winning the title in 2006, he coached the now defunct Chemelil Sugar FC, Western Stima and Tusker FC.He has had stints in Tanzania with Biashara United and most recently at Kagera Sugar. He has also served as an Assistant Coach at the national team, Harambee Stars, where he worked under Francis Kimanzi.Baraza featured for Oserian Fastac, Shabana, AFC Leopards, Eldoret KCC, Nakuru AllStars amongst other clubs as a defender during his heydays.
