Nairobi City Stars’ combative midfielder Clifford Ouma is over the moon after earning his first league start last weekend when Simba wa Nairobi played Posta Rangers to a barren draw.Ouma who joined City Stars from National Super League side Migori Youth was thrown in the deep end against the mailmen but he is glad to have put in a shift that earned him man of the match accolade from the club.##NAJAVA_MECA_6888239##The player who lasted on the pitch in either halves helped City Stars collect the first point of the season as the club had lost the opening three duels against Bidco United, Tusker and FC Talanta.“I feel I did well in my first 90+ debut game, but there’s still lots to do. I want to thank coach Nicholas Muyoti for giving me an opportunity to prove myself. I suppose he was satisfied with what he saw in that game and I believe he’ll build more confidence in me as time goes by,” he told club media.Prior to his first start of the season, the former Migori Youth captain had made cameos against Tusker and Talanta. He made his league debut against the beer makers in a game staged at Ruaraka grounds, coming on in the 87th minute for the evergreen Peter Opiyo. He earned more minutes in the next game against FC Talanta at the same venue in match day three after taking up Opiyo’s place in the 79th minute.“My debut day went well as we lost to Tusker. I hate losing. I hope to gather more minutes and playtime as we go along and help my team gain more positive results,” he added.Ouma will be hoping to retain his place in the squad as City Stars heads away to face Nzoia United in Sudi in match day five on Saturday 17 December 2022.
