Babu basking in Nzoia Sugar’s slim win over City Stars

Nzoia Sugar FC head coach Salim Babu is delighted with the 1-0 win picked by his side in the hotly contested FKF Premier League game against Nairobi City Stars on Saturday afternoon at the Sudi Stadium in Bungoma. The millers gathered all three points after seeing off the struggling Nairobi-based side courtesy of a Boniface Munyendo goal from the spot. This was the midfielder’s third goal of the season from 12 yards after converting two against KCB a week ago.##NAJAVA_MECA_6893005##Babu is delighted with the win and a dominant outing against Nicholas Muyoti’s charges.“We played well once again dominated the game scored one goal and got the win that we wanted and I am happy because we got the three points that we wanted,” he told Mozzart Sport.Despite the win, the tactician admits that they threw away other good opportunities to extend their goal-tally. He’s however not reading much into it as he believes that they will soon start taking most of the chances that they create.“We were wasteful. We created so many chances but scoring was our main undoing because some of the opportunities that we failed to make count were too easy to score than to miss. On the flip side, I am happy that we are creating them because we did not have chances that would be a whole new problem for us,” he added.13’Boniface Munyendo draws Nzoia Sugar level from the spot.KCB FC 1-1 Nzoia Sugar FC#FKFPL pic.twitter.com/4rhC9E5xrE— Ole Teya (@Kevin_teya) December 11, 2022 Prior to the penalty being converted, City Stars protested stopping play for close to a quarter of an hour as they did not agree with the decision to award the spot kick after one of their players was adjudged to have fouled Joseph Mwangi who was through on goal, the lengthy stoppage is something that left Babu shocked.“My player was through on goal ready to score only for him to be pulled back, that was a stone-wall penalty. I was shocked by the conduct of some City Stars players because once a penalty has been awarded, however aggrieved you may feel it cannot be reversed and so there is no point wasting time protesting. They protested for close to 15 minutes before it was eventually taken and that really affected our tempo but I am glad that we got the job done and we now focus on next week’s game against Mathare,” he added.NSL: Shabana eye top spot as Round 5 kicks off
