‘I earn money and I can help other people’: Haidara on a mission in Mali

RB Leipzig is a well known, established club in Germany, organized and funded on a ‘simple’ formula: buying perspective young players who are unknown of half known and then re-sell them for bigger amounts. Only this season, players like Tyler Adams, Hee-chan Hwang, Brian Brobbey and Nordie Mukiele were sold for a total of 62 million euros, and Christopher Nkunku is the next one, worth as much all of them together. It was expected that his July, Amadou Haidara would leave to the Premier League, as both Newcastle and Manchester United were interested in a Mali international, but so far, box to box midfielder has stayed in the club. Finally a proper signing: Nkunku is coming to Stamford Bridge!Haiara left Mali when he was just an 18 year old boy and went to play for RB Salzburg, reaching the Europa League semi-final, before switching to the ‘bigger brother’ club RB Leipzig and reaching the Champions League semi-final there. And during all this time, Haidara never forgot his homeland, where he came back to help and leave some legacy. View this post on Instagram A post shared by Haidara (@amadou_haidara04) Haidara started a foundation which helped to set up summer football camps for children in Bamako. Orange became a partner and children went to a tournament in Morocco and finished second.“Just to see the children smiling and dreaming and knowing I could help them was special. I know how cruel and difficult life can be in Mali. It’s not easy to live there but now I am a professional I can make these children smile. I also wanted to give something back to my homeland. To become a professional you need training grounds, sports equipment and people who support you. That’s why I had the idea of opening this camp last year and giving the boys an opportunity that I didn’t have before. It has now taken place for the second time” explained Haidara for Bild. One step closer to return: Sebastian Haller starts training with Borussia in JanuaryBut that’s not all that he does for his homeland. He is also involved in a construction of the health center in Kela, his father’s birthplace.“The topic of health is also important to me. I built a hospital in my father’s birthplace. The city is two hours away from the capital Bamako. So far, there hasn’t been a way to provide first aid. I earn money and if I can help other people with it, then I do it with great pleasure” admiited Haidara.##NAJAVA_MECA_6899954##
