Mathare United goalkeeper Mustafa Oduor is glad to be back from injury after what has been a turbulent year for the custodian.Oduor made his long-awaited return to action last Wednesday against Nzoia Sugar FC at the Utalii Grounds. He had been sidelined for over a year after he picked a knee injury against Kakamega Homeboyz while playing for Wazito FC in September 2021 on the same Grounds.##NAJAVA_MECA_6911585##It has been a patient wait for him after undergoing knee surgery. After recovery, he signed from the Slum Boys debuting in the 2-1 defeat to the high-flying millers in what was their first match of the season.In an interview, the former Bandari, Vihiga United, and Nzoia Sugar FC custodian expressed his delight at making the comeback to competitive football.”It has been a long journey back from injury but I am glad to be back doing what I love most. Injuries come with physical, and physiological challenges and luckily I managed to get good rehab after surgery and I am looking forward to a successful season with my new team, I want to play a role in the team’s success, ” Oduor told Mozzart Sport.On Wednesday, goals from Boniface Munyendo and Joseph Mwangi gave Nzoia a 2-1 win over the Slum Boys. Douglas Kibet got the consolation goal for the Boniface Omondi-led team and although it was a false start for them, Mustafa believes they will rise again.”We had hoped to start the season with a win but things did not go our way largely because of some mistakes we made but we are going to learn from them and come back stronger in our next game,” he said.”We will try to bounce back in our next game. We have to work on our weaknesses and also learn to take the chances we create and we will be good to go.
