The current Football Kenya Federation Premier League (FKFPL) season is well into round five with no title and broadcast sponsor although Sports and Arts Cabinet Secretary Ababu Namwamba has been on record lately assuring football faithfuls that it is just a matter of time before SuperSport, the renowned sports broadcaster, announces its return to the top league. FKF CEO Barry Otieno admits it has not been easy for the federation to bag crucial partners due to the fact that the federation was mostly embroiled in a push and pull with the Government in the past year, something that led to a ban from international football by FIFA. He says the ripple effect has damaged the organisation’s brand and they are now doing the hard job of trying to restore it.How political decisions tragically swayed Kenyan football like a seesaw in 2022″In regards to the title and broadcast sponsorships, we continue to engage various potential partners but as you would be aware the brand has been badly damaged especially in the last one one year so we are trying to rebuild that even as we continue wirth negotiations,” Barry told Mozzart Sport,”There’s nothing concrete and concluded as yet but we continue to engage potential partners and hope to finalise as soon as is realistically possible,” he added.##NAJAVA_MECA_6917010##FKF suffered a huge blow when a gaming company that was the title sponsor of the FKFPL and Division One league terminated the agreement in August last year. Each FKFPL club was reportedly supposed to be receiving Ksh. 8M per year in a five year deal worth a total of Ksh 1.2Billion.
