However, he made a poor connection and beat his goalkeeper Danny Ward.Just seven minutes later, in the dying seconds of the first half, Faes failed to clear a loose ball headed for the net. It bounced off the post, into the Belgian defender and over the line. The travelling fans took the chance to ridicule the fizzy-haired defender by comparing him to their former captain, Argentinean centre-back Fabricio Coloccini. According to the Geordies, Faes is “just a sh*t Coloccini”. On tonight’s evidence, it’s difficult not to agree with that statement.
