Undone by Faes! Leicester’s defender scores two own goals to turn his team’s lead into Liverool’s win

Leicester City’s players scored three goals in their Premier League match at Liverpool on Friday night, but sadly for them, two of those were Wout Faes own goals. It was a terrible night for the curly-haired defender as his two moments of infamy condemned his team to the second defeat of the week and handed Reds the points. The Foxes led after a marvellous solo goal by Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, but then Faes struck – twice.Trent Alexander-Arnold whipped the ball in from the right and the Leicester centre-back flew through the air to clear it. However, he made a poor connection and beat his goalkeeper Danny Ward.Just seven minutes later, in the dying seconds of the first half, Faes failed to clear a loose ball headed for the net. It bounced off the post, into the Belgian defender and over the line. What a nightmare!🗣 Newcastle fans to Wout Faes:😅 “You’re just a s*** Coloccini!” pic.twitter.com/FixtsTctXf— GiveMeSport (@GiveMeSport) December 26, 2022 Only a few days ago, Leicester lost at home to Newcastle, letting in three goals. The travelling fans took the chance to ridicule the fizzy-haired defender by comparing him to their former captain, Argentinean centre-back Fabricio Coloccini. According to the Geordies, Faes is “just a sh*t Coloccini”. On tonight’s evidence, it’s difficult not to agree with that statement.Jurgen Klopp should send flowers and gifts to Faes for the rest of the season because they struggled to find the net themselves. Apart from a disallowed Mohamed Salah strike in the first half, the Reds seldom looked like a team capable of scoring.Wout Faes has now scored more goals for Liverpool this season than 14 of the LFC first team squad 🤯 pic.twitter.com/zsmHJO3Ltu— Project Football (@ProjectFootball) December 30, 2022 Darwin Nunez struggled once again to establish himself as a real attacking force. And to think that some people suggested he will prove to be the better player than Erling Haaland this season! He will have to up his game considerably in the new year if he wants to be even in the same league as the free-scoring Norwegian. In the other Premier League encounter of the night, Brentford got what can only be called a routine victory over West Ham United at the London Stadium. The Bees scored twice before the break to get the decisive lead. David Moyes must now be the favourite to lose his job after overseeing yet another terrible performance in front of his club’s fans. West Ham are beaten at home to Brentford which leaves them 17th in the Premier League table and one point above the drop zone. ⚒️😳 pic.twitter.com/LhiYOlAoBP— Football Daily (@footballdaily) December 30, 2022 The Irons attempted to at least half the deficit in the remainder of the match, but Thomas Frank’s players were a level above and deservedly held on to claim three big points. However, they ended the night on a sour note as their best goalscorer Ivan Toney had to be stretched off in the dying minutes with what looked like a serious knee injury.ENGLISH PREMIER LEAGUE – Matchday 18Friday West Ham – Brentford 0-2 (0-2)/Toney 18, Dasilva 43/Liverpool – Leicester 2-1 (2-1)/Faes 38 og, 45 og – Dewsbury-Hall 4/Saturday 15.30: (4.40) Wolverhampton (3.50) Man.Utd.
