Following the demise of the legendary Brazilian footballer Edson Arantes do Nascimento commonly known as Pele, Football Kenya Federation has confirmed that a minute of silence will be observed prior to the start off all the mid-week matches.Al the competition organizers across the world directed clubs to observe a minute of silence or applause in the matches played over the weekend in solidary with family and friends of the fallen icon.Pele who is regarded as one of the Greatest of All Time breathed his last on Thursday last week aged 82.##NAJAVA_MECA_6916339##In a circular to its members, FIFA directed for a minute of silence to be observed before kick off and flags at its headquarters to be flown at half-mast.“In solidarity with his family and friends, the Brazilian Football Association, Brazil and all football fans who loved him so dearly, the flags at FIFA headquarters will be flown at half-mast, and FIFA calls upon all competition organisers to hold a minute of silence ahead of every football match this upcoming weekend and the week thereafter,” read part of the letter from FIFA’s Secretary General Fatma Samoura addressed to all member associations.Further, a minute of silence will be observed in honour of former Tusker defender Mark Odhiambo who passed on last week after a battle with illness. Odhiambo featured for KCB, and Wazito in his active days.”Pele was a gift to football. His talent inspired millions across the world and gave fans across the world memories for a lifetime. And when he retired he continued to help grow the game and lift up those who came after him.
