Kenyan international Victor Wanyama has officially extended his stay with Canadian club CF Montreal, bringing an end to speculations that have surrounded his future for the past few months.Wanyama’s contract with Montreal expired in December and in an earlier interview, he hinted at walking out of the club after three seasons after failing to agree to a new deal with the club. He will turn out for the club for the 2023 and 2024 seasons handing new coach Hernan Losada who has already lost a number of key players a big boost.Those who have left the club are; Djordje Mihailovic has moved to AZ Alkmaar, Ismaël Kone joined Watford FC while defender Alistair Johnston joined Wanyama’s former club Celtic FC. Center backs Kamal Miller and Joel Waterman, two of CFMTL’s six players who represented Canada at the 2022 FIFA World Cup, are also reportedly generating Europe-centric interest.“We are glad to have concluded a new deal with Victor and that he remains with us. During the last three seasons, he has been an important player on the field and in the locker room. Between 2008 and 2011, Wanyama played with Beerschot AC in the Belgium Jupiler Pro League, appearing in 41 regular season games, eight playoff games, and five Belgium Cup games.Before joining the EPL, Wanyama played two seasons with Celtic FC, helping the Scottish giants win two Scottish Premier League (SPL) titles in 2011-12 and 2012-13, and a Scottish Cup in 2013. He was also named the SPL Young Player of the Year following the 2012-13 season.
