Determined Police glean second league victory with late sinker to Kariobangi Sharks

A late goal from Marvin Nabwire saw Kenya Police register the second win of the season following the hard fought 2-1 victory over Kariobangi Sharks at Kasarani Annex.Sharks were headed for fifth draw of the campaign but Nabwire struck late to give Police the three points and inflict the first loss on Sharks.Despite having nine players who have played for the national team, Harambee Stars team before, Police struggled to keep up with the pace injected by the youthful Sharks players who were hungry from onset. Sharks who are known for their free flowing football were making in roads to the Police area for free, capitalizing on their pace to cause the back line all sorts of problems. ⏹ Full Time K-Sharks 1-2 Kenya Police FC14″Fortune #WeAreSharks pic.twitter.com/RIzyImS1yh— Kariobangi Sharks FC (@k_sharksfc) January 8, 2023 Sharks took the lead in the 14th minute through Fortune Omoto who had an easy time in slotting the ball into the net after Musa Mohammed’s clearance fell on his way. Musa had tried to intercept and clear a cross delivered by Shariff Musa but did not catch the ball cleanly and hence, it fell on the way of Omoto who drove the ball to the farthest corner beating the exposed Job Ochieng. Police who leveled matters in the 26th minute through Elvis Rupia who netted from the spot after he was brought down by the advancing John Otieno who caught him late. Rupia was through on goal but was obstructed by Otieno who drew a yellow card for the challenge from centre referee Felix Ekai who was inches away from the incident. ⏸ Interval K-Sharks 1-1 Police FC14″ Fortune#WeAreSharks pic.twitter.com/K5QcYhUbpq— Kariobangi Sharks FC (@k_sharksfc) January 8, 2023 The half time pep talk from Police appeared to bear fruit as the law enforcers returned with more vigour, pinning Sharks who looked to have run short of gas to their half. Sharks old boys Patilah Omoto and Duke Abuya attempted to beat Otieno through long shots but the youthful goalkeeper denied his erstwhile teammates. The changes Police made in the second half added more spark on their side at the expense of Sharks who managed the pressure and had to respond through counterattacks. Otieno pulled a couple of decent saves in the final ten minutes of the game, denying David Okoth and Marvin Nabwire from close range.A late goal by Nabwire saw Police snatch the three points.
