The Watamu-based Chef was going about his normal errands getting cooking supplies when he noticed someone who looked familiar – former Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel. He approached Tuchel who admitted it was him and even granted him a photo opportunity. “I initially thought it was a Thomas Tuchel lookalike but I was really surprised and lost for words when he confirmed that indeed it was him. He was just walking around the neighborhood with his family and seemed to be in a hurry but we spoke for like a minute or so and he even allowed me to take a quick selfie. Mpathe, who is originally from Marafa in Kilifi, posted the photo on Facebook, saying he had met the tactician at Hell’s Kitchen, a popular tourists attraction site in Marafa, even though he actually met him on the streets of Watamu. “I have a lot of Facebook friends from my home area Marafa and I therefore knew the post would excite them but the truth is I met him in Watamu. I was just overjoyed.” He said. Mpatha, who is a Chef who specialises on Italian cuisine, says Thomas Tuchel’s visit to Watamu is good as it will open up the area for more high-profile tourists.
