FKF PL: Aussems’ excuses, Omala’s golden touch and other things we learned in week eight

All week eight matches were played on Sunday afternoons in different parts of the country with focus now on rescheduled midweek matches in week nine action next weekend. There were a number of expected and shocking results posted. Tusker’s defeat for example was more of a shocker and so was AFC Leopard’s drubbing at the hands of Bidco United.##NAJAVA_MECA_2051##We look at some of the things we learned in week five.Unbeaten runs come to an endHeading to week eight action, league leaders Tusker FC and Kariobangi Sharks were the only remaining unbeaten sides in the league. That however came to an end as Sharks suffered a last-minute defeat against Kenya Police. They went down 2-1 to the law enforcers. The Brewers suffered a similar fate against Bandari in Mombasa going down by a similar scoreline. This means all 18 teams have suffered defeats. Mathare, Wazito and Nairobi City Stars are the three sides yet to win a match.Benson Omala is backThe striker is the leading scorer in the league with six goals after he got a brace against Posta Rangers in the 2-0 win in Thika. He has scored in all the matches that he has started. On Wednesday he was benched against KCB and coincidentally, his team lost. The player endured a difficult time in Sweden when he signed for Linkoping City FC before returning to Gor Mahia. He has started the season strongly and is showing flashes of the player he was at Western Stima that every club wanted.FULL TIME in Mombasa. Defeat on the road. pic.twitter.com/HII2jUcPwI— 🏆Tusker FC (@tusker_fc) January 8, 2023 Patrick Aussems runs out of excusesIngwe suffered their biggest league defeat in a while after going down 4-1 to Bidco United at the Nyayo National Stadium. It was a horror second-half show from Ingwe as they conceded almost three identical goals. Coach Aussems has always had an explanation when his team does not perform well but on Sunday, he did not have much to say walking away after a brief interview.Muyoti running out of timeNairobi City Stars have played eight matches this season. They have lost six of the games while the other two have ended in draws. Losing is part of the game but going down 4-2 to Vihiga Bullets on Sunday was a new low for Simba wa Nairobi and coach Nicholas Muyoti will be a worried man. There are no indications that the Kawangware based side are about to make changes in their technical bench but with a positive result not forthcoming, anything can happen in the next few weeks. Not the expected result today ! Lack of communication and huge defensives mistakes give us a big frustration ! Let’s refresh our minds and move on … We win together , we lose together … pic.twitter.com/cSsPxRsB4p— Patrick Aussems (@PatrickAussems) January 8, 2023 Mathare are still in a festive moodThe Slum Boys have played three matches so far and lost all three. They have shipped in nine goals and scored two in the process. After losing nearly all their players last season it was expected that they would struggle but if the team is to retain its top-flight status, they have to get out of that charitable mood and start winning games because the festive period is over.Midas touch: In form Omala dispatches Posta Rangers with devastating brace
