Since Erling Haaland left Borussia Dortmund this summer to join Manchester City, it’s been relatively quiet at Westfalenstadion. But now German journalists finally had something interesting to write about – Youssoufa Moukoko. Dortmund’s rising start wanted to be on the headlines due to his form and goals, but instead, he is there for all the wrong reasons: money and age. Borussia’s young striker is in a contract row with the club and just received a ‘take it or leave it’ offer from the sporting director, while he also has an unpleasant ongoing affair concerting his age. News #Moukoko: Clear message from BVB Boss Watzke at Sky: „It’s legitimate for him to try to get a good position for himself. But it’s just as legitimate that we have our own ideas, and if they don’t coincide, then the collaboration won’t be continued.“ @Sky_Jesco @SkySportDE 🇩🇪 pic.twitter.com/uchyL5JbTv— Florian Plettenberg (@Plettigoal) January 12, 2023 The young striker of Cameroon origin started scoring for BVB since he was 16, but with in-form Haaland and Jadon Sancho in the team, he was not going to be given too much chances. When they both left the club, Moukoko expected to be number 1 choice, but Borussia brought in Karim Adeyemi and then Sebastien Haller. The contract negotiations began at the time when Haller was diagnosed with tumor and Moukoko at first wanted assurance over his playing time, but soon, when he started playing and scoring, money became the main subject and here we are, in an ongoing contract row, which looks too familiar – the player is negotiating for ages, but in fact buying himself time in order to become a free agent. ##NAJAVA_MECA_6945254##But, Borussia doesn’t want that. They have submitted an ‘over the top’ offer to a still young and unproven player which is worth around 57.000 euros per week which can raise up to 95.000 with various bonuses. And now, Borussia’s sporting director has given his player and ultimatum until Sunday, when Dortmund is playing against Augsburg. Heavy blow for BVB: Moukoko will leave the club as a free agent, sparking major interest from both Chelsea and Barcelona“Youssoufa can accept this offer now and commit to Borussia Dortmund, or else there will be a parting of the ways. I would wish that he chooses us because he hasn’t yet completed his development and I see huge potential in him. But for us as a club there are limits. Youssoufa is a great boy. He’s been with us for almost seven years, we trained and developed him. He became a professional and a national player with us. He received an incredible amount of support from us and worked hard to achieve success himself” said Sebastian Kehl to Kickers magazine. Borussia Dortmund star Youssoufa Moukoko ‘caught up in age fraud stormAs if the situation is not bad enough with the contract row, there is another potential scandal connected to the striker. Moukoko, who was born in Yaounde, Cameroon, before moving to live in Germany in 2014 where he was adopted, is alleged to be 22, rather than 18, according to claims in Germany. It has now been claimed in Germany that a birth certificate dated for the year 2000 with the name Yousouffa Mohamadou and attributed to Dortmund striker Moukoko was discovered in 2022. Austrian news outlet claims that Moukoko’s adoptive father had sent the alleged unearthed birth certificate to a journalist, but nothing has been confirmed yet. Tough times for the young striker.
