Nairobi City Stars have fired assistant coaches John Amboko and Noah Abich.The two according to sources in the team were let go of last week following a spate of poor results by the team.“The pressure was too much and some action had to be taken to appease the owners who were beginning to demand for answers. That is why Amboko and Abich had to be let go,” said our source.City Stars CEO Patrick Korir confirmed the development.”We have officially released them. We opted to try a different approach to turn around the results after a very bad start to the season. Goalkeeper trainer Abel Omuhaya is currently doubling up as the Assistant Coach.” Korir told Mozzart Sport.The team has experienced a spate of poor results since the season started and only picked their first win last week against Sofapaka whom they beat 2-1 at Kasarani on Wednesday afternoon.The team is currently third from bottom on the log with just five points having played 10 matches.Nzoia Sugar enjoying their game, unbothered with top of the table pressure##NAJAVA_MECA_6954613##In 2021, both Amboko and Abich completed their CAF ‘B’ and CAF ‘C’ coaching courses and were subsequently promoted to the team’s technical bench as assistant coaches to Nicholas Muyoti.Amboko played for City Stars from 2002 to 2017 becoming one of the longest serving players at the club.Abich a former Kenyan international defender joined City Stars as a player in 2019.Previously he had played for a number a number of Kenyan Premier League (KPL) sides among them Sony Sugar, Tusker, Mathare United, Nzoia Sugar, AFC Leopards, Kakamega Homeboyz, Sofapaka and Bandari in a playing career spanning 17 years.
