Arsenal fans arrested in Uganda, didn’t know which year the ‘Invincibles’ season happened

Sunday’s derby between Arsenal and Manchester United looked much like the ‘old’ rivalry from the beginning of the 21st century, when both clubs were winning the Premier League titles among themselves. And Gunners are a step closer to wining their first league title since 2003/04 (United did it last in 2012/13) after defeating the Red Devils in the last minute of the match. Arsenal fans all over the world celebrated after the victory, but supporters from Uganda have gone a bit too far and got themselves arrested. The ⁦@Arsenal⁩ fans we arrested even had no basics about the club. – James Mubi, Kiira regional ⁦@PoliceUg⁩ spokesperson #NBSportUpdates pic.twitter.com/3vswH1QRw6— NBS Sport (@NBSportUg) January 24, 2023 At least eight Arsenal fans have been arrested in the Ugandan city of Jinja after celebrating the club’s win. The fans were wearing the club’s red jersey and carrying a symbolic trophy. Police said they didn’t have a permit to hold the procession which is a public order offence. James Mubi, the regional police boss and a self-declared Arsenal fan, told the BBC he had not reviewed the fans’ charges but wondered why they were celebrating when only half of the matches in the season had been played.”What would happen if an altercation with rival fans broke out? They did not inform police to provide security for their procession” Mr Mubi said. This is how you win the title – Gunners come from behind to defeat UnitedAnd while the arrested fans are still in detention, detectives have opened up an investigation, since during the interrogation, those fans lacked basic information about Arsenal and the English premier league in general, raising suspicion over possibility of sinister motives. Mubi also told journalists that the arrested fans didn’t even know which year the famous ‘Invincibles’ won the Premier League.8 Arsenal fans have been arrested for celebrating their victory against Manchester United in Uganda. The Police said the fans went on a victory parade without seeking permission. pic.twitter.com/u1DLfIxI50— Africa Facts Zone (@AfricaFactsZone) January 24, 2023 Another suspect who spoke on condition of anonymity said that it was all a part of the bet with Manchester United fans.“It is true, we are happy that Arsenal is performing really well, but our procession was a clear message to Manchester fans and we hired two vehicles, wore brand new Arsenal jerseys, before flocking Jinja city streets with triumphal celebrations but only to be met with police resistance” he said.##NAJAVA_MECA_6971601##
