First appearance in four months for Brian Mandela as Sundowns down TS Galaxy in the PSL

Kenyan international and Mamelodi Sundowns defender Brian ‘Niang’ Mandela was in action as Mamelodi Sundowns continued their league dominance in South Africa with a 2-1 win over Ts Galaxy on Tuesday evening. Having been named on the bench initially, Mandela came on after 16 minutes to replace Rushine De Reuck as a concussion sub after the latter suffered a head collision and was unable to continue with the match. This was the first time that the Kenyan was playing in the league since September last year when he featured against SuperSport United as they went down 2-1 in one of the only two defeats of the season.Job Done in Mbombela ✅ On to the next one! 🔜TS Galaxy (90+6′ Traore) 1️⃣➖2️⃣ Mamelodi Sundowns (11′ De Reuck, 65′ Shalulile)#Sundowns #DownsLive #DStvPrem pic.twitter.com/UCJdWBIqSQ— Mamelodi Sundowns FC (@Masandawana) January 24, 2023 Rushine had leaped highest in the 10th minute in the box to open the scoring for Mamelodi Sundowns with a well-headed goal from a Gastón Sirino cross, but the goal was a pricey one for him as a follow-through collision with an opposing player saw him collapse to the floor as the ball kissed the net.A lengthy treatment that took more than five minutes ensued as Mandela prepared to come on for his first league game in 2023. ##NAJAVA_MECA_6973487##It was a game of misfortunes and TS Galaxy were forced to a concussion substitution as well at the half-hour mark as Vasilije Kolak came on to replace Melusi Buthelezi following a collision as well.Peter Shalulile doubled the lead for Sundowns after a neat exchange of passes between Rulani Mokwena’s charges in the final third, literally knocking the ball into the net for the second.
