The contest featured Mexico’s two-division world champion up against Australian contender. The pair battle it out for the vacant WBO junior lightweight title live on ESPN and live stream on ESPN+.
The scheduled for twelve rounds world championship bout ended prior to the final bell. The referee stepped in to call it a day at 1 minute and 57 seconds into the ninth round after Navarrete, who got dropped in Round 4, dominated Wilson with a barrage of punches.
With the victory by TKO, Emanuel Navarrete improves to 37-1, 31 KOs, claims WBO 130-pound title and becomes a three-division world champion.
Liam Wilson drops to 11-2, 7 KOs.
