Borussia is for real. Dortmund certainly enjoyed a dream campaign since the start of the year 2023. They recorded three wins and thank to the three draw from Bayern in the same period, they are back into the Bundesliga title race. But their wins didn’t came as easy as they should have, considering the strength of the opponents. Augsburg and Mainz are certainly not the strongest opponents out there but the Millionaires allowed themselves to play uncertain games with tight scores (4-3 and 2-1). Only last week’s win over a strong Bayer team (2-0) was the real challenge for Edin Terzic’s men and today, it was time to put on a show against Freiburg. Playing against a team with the same number of points (34) was suppose to be a real test and it was: Borussia – Freiburg 5-1.SEBASTIAN HALLER SCORES IN FRONT OF THE YELLOW WALL! WHAT A MOMENT! 🖤💛 pic.twitter.com/FBTrSOKbhF— Football Away Days Club (@FADClub_) February 4, 2023 The highlight of the match was certainly Ivory Coast Sebastien Haller’s maiden goal in Borussia shirt and the red card for the visiting team after only 17 minutes. The unexperienced Sildillia put his teammates under a lot of pressure by being sent off and Freiburg couldn’t deal with a strong Dortmund side with 10 men. And among those three goals scored for BVB, the third one stands out: It was the first goal for Sebastien Haller, who came back victorious after a prostate cancer, scored a goal on World Cancer Day and did so in the boots on which ‘F**k cancer’ was written.Sébastian Haller has shared his special boots ahead of his BVB debut tomorrow 💪 pic.twitter.com/iVaEHLW0Vf— 433 (@433) January 21, 2023 The first sign of excitement in the first half was when the referee sent off the inexperienced Kiliann Sildillia due to two fouls in the space of 90 seconds. The youngster was up against Karim Adeyemi and the quick forward passed on him twice, causing two yellow cards and an expulsion. 10 minutes later Borussia used the advantage and took the lead. After the corner, the ball came to Nico Schlotterbeck, who took an undeliberate shot from almost a dead angle, but the ball found its way between the ‘forest’ of legs and it was 1-0. But Freiburg is not the team who will give up easily and after a poor Sule clearance just outside the penalty area, Lucas Holer used the ‘present’ an equalized. But in the second half, Freiburg couldn’t cope with Borussia, who took advantage of having all 11 players on the pitch and allowed more goals. First it was Adeyemi, who made a double pass with Bellingham and scored in the 49th minute, and then Sebastien Haller scored his maiden goal for the home team since arriving from Ajax and battling with testicular cancer. Julian Brandt scored the fourth for the home team in the 70th minute, and BVB is now on level points with Bayern, at least for the next 24 hours, before the Bavarians play their game against Wolfsburg.Giovanni Reyna put icing on the cake of a fourth consecutive win late on, which moved them, at least temporarily, level on points with Bayern Munich. Freiburg, meanwhile, have seen their European hopes dented with a fourth loss from their last seven road trips – with those defeats seeing them concede an alarming 18 goals.BUNDESLIGA – Matchday 19Friday Augsburg – Leverkusen 1-0 (0-0)/Berisha 55/SaturdayKoln – RB Leipzig 0-0Bochum – Hoffenheim 5-2 (3-0)/Hoffman 22, Forster 30, Asano 40, Masovic 69, Broschinski 83 – Baumgartner 49, Dabbur 77/Dortmund – Freiburg 5-1 (1-1)/Schlotterbeck 26, Adeyemi 48, Haller 51, Brandt 69, Reyna 82 – Holer 45/Eintr.Frankfurt – Hertha 3-0 (2-0)/Kolo Muani 21 pen, 28, Buta 90+4/Union Berlin – Mainz 2-1 (1-0)/Behrens 32, Siebatcheu 84 – Ingvartsen 79 pen/20.30: (1.55) M’ gladbach (4.10) Schalke (6.00)Sunday 17.30: (2.20) Stuttgart (3.50) Werder (3.45)19.30: (5.30) Wolfsburg (4.00) Bayern (1.63)***odds are subject to change***
