There are a few consistencies in the otherwise inconsistent Everton displays over the years: the bad football decisions by the club’s brass and injuries to Dominic Calvert-Lewin. The Toffies striker is no doubt a very talented player who was subject of enquiries from bigger clubs over the seasons, but his injury record is worrying for everybody, and now, it’s the biggest problem for the new coach Sean Dyche. The Toffies manager came to the club near the end of the transfer window which ended with no incoming transfers, while other players left the club. So, the former Burnley boss was left the current squad and Calvert-Lewin is by far the best striker in the team. But, as other coaches before him soon realized, he is not available for most of the time.🗣 “The root of the problem is pretty easy for the medical side of things, now it’s just time to make sure his body is well.”Sean Dyche gives an update on the fitness of Dominic Calvert-Lewin 🤕 pic.twitter.com/6YzVGCx4Tk— Football Daily (@footballdaily) February 16, 2023 But Dyche is determined more than ever to see why is Calvert-Lewin injured so much. The Englishman is out of contention for a very important match with fellow strugglers Leeds due to the effects of a persistent hamstring issue and it is already looking unlikely that he will play the following week against Aston Villa.“I’ve got to learn about his physiological history. I’ve got to learn what his body will and won’t take, which is what we are trying to do now. We’re speaking to him, the medical staff and the sports scientists, looking at the stats. We will look at his training programmes, the distances he has covered. What’s his diet like? What’s his lifestyle like? What car does he drive, what mattress does he use, how many hours does he sleep a night?” explained Dyche.Rafa: ‘I won’t train Liverpool because Klopp is there’Considering the fact that he needs every man available in the relegation battle, Everton boss needs to do that in order to get Calvert-Lewin on track fast. The striker played in 28 of Everton’s last 60 Premier League games and his new boss will look to get answers sooner than later.“I’ll take scientific feedback. Equally, you can’t just leave a player for ever and wait. You can’t leave a one-month injury for three months, just to be sure. There has to be a balance” explained Dyche.ENGLISH PREMIER LEAGUESaturday15.30: (4.50) Aston Villa (3.60) Arsenal (1.94)18.00: (1.96) Brentford (3.40) Crystal Palace (4.20)18.00: (1.79) Brighton (3.70) Fulham (5.40)18.00: (1.43) Chelsea (4.50) Southampton (8.50)18.00: (2.55) Everton (3.30) Leeds (3.10)18.00: (9.00) Nott.Forest (5.20) Man.City (1.36)18.00: (1.73) Wolverhampton (3.70) Bournemouth (5.90)20.30: (2.65) Newcastle (3.35) Liverpool (2.70)Sunday17.00: (1.68) Man.Utd.
