Chelsea appointed Graham Potter and gave him a squad of players so expensive it makes your eyes water, but that’s apparently not enough to beat the worst team in the Premier League!James Ward-Prowse scored the only goal of the match as bottom-of-the-league Southampton scored the unlikeliest of victories at Stamford Bridge.Chelsea produced another abysmal performance and gave their fans a lot to think about – like, who could be the next manager to take the team forward. Despite all the talk about Potter being there for the long haul, the evidence presented doesn’t bode well for the English tactician. He’s done alright for Brighton, but this job is something completely different.Raheem Sterling’s second-half introduction made an impact, and the England international saw two attempts blocked, most importantly a diving header which made its way past Gavin Bazunu, but not defender Romain Perraud, who cleared off the line.Mikhaylo Mudryk, Joao Felix, Reece James, Kai Havertz, all the stars were there, trying to break the Saints down, but the visitors hand in there bravely – even though they were led from the dugout by a caretaker coach Ruben Selles. The game was marred by a serious head injury to Cesar Azpilicueta, that led to a 12-minute break in play. The Speniard was hit diretnly in the head by an ambitious and reckless overhead kick attempt by Southampton’s Sekou Mara. Azpilicueta was eventually stretched off and taken to a hospital. There will be many aching heads at Stamford Bridge in the coming days.ENGLISH PREMIER LEAGUESaturdayAston Villa – Arsenal 2-4 (2-1)/Watkins 5, Coutinho 31 – Saka 16, Zinchenko 61, Martinez 90+3 og, Martinelli 90+8/Brentford – Crystal Palace 1-1 (0-0)/Janelt 90+6 – Eze 69/Brighton – Fulham 0-1 (0-0)/Solomon 88/Chelsea – Southampton 0-1 (0-1)/Ward-Prowse 45+1/Everton – Leeds 1-0 (0-0)/Coleman 64/Nottingham Forest – Manchester City 1-1 (0-1)/Bernardo 41/Wolverhampton – Bournemouth 0-1 (0-0)/Tavernier 49/20.30: (2.65) Newcastle (3.35) Liverpool (2.70)Sunday17.00: (1.68) Man.Utd.
