Anthony Akhulia’s Bidco United eased to their sixth win in the 2022/2023 Football Kenya Federation Premier League after recording a comfortable 2-0 victory over a lackluster Sofapaka on Sunday afternoon. In the colourless fixture played at the Kasarani Annex Stadium, goals on either half of the game from Peter Nzuki and Samuel Ndung’u helped the Thika based side manage back to back wins for only the second time this season, a result that saw the team jump upto eighth place on the log table.##NAJAVA_MECA_7031460##”I am delighted with how we played today because we faced a difficult team. The game also had very few chances but we managed to get two goas out of them which gave us another important victory for us,” Akhulia said.”We gifted Bidco easy goals which ended up costing us in the match. We also needed to do better with the ball because we created chances but could not find the end product. That is what I always demand from the players,” Sofapaka’s David Ouma lamented. The clash got off to a sluggish start as both sides struggled to create anything with their incision in the final third majorly lacking. After a drab opening quarter of an hour, it is Sofapaka who threatened first on the 20th minute when Titus Achesa hit a low drive from a free kick that, although on target, was safely punched out by Daniel Odiwuor in the Bidco goal for a throw in.Barron Oketch should have done better on the two occasions he beat his Bidco markers in a foot race down the line but his final ball left his strikers frustrated as he failed to release the ball. With chances far and few in between in the clash, Bidco made the most out of a set piece awarded to them just outside the penalty area on the 40th minute as Nzuki curled in an inch perfect free kick.Nzuki found an easy way into the back of the net as the inexperienced Simon Masaka in the Sofapaka goal failed to cover the space not covered by his wall allowing the midfielder to pick the perfect spot in the top corner as Bidco led into the break.Strength of a woman: Akisa’s magic hands that keeps Nzoia Sugar players fit##NAJAVA_MECA_7037888##Fourteen minutes into the second half, Bidco managed to double their lead when Ndung’u latched on a long ball from the back that had caught the Sofapaka defenders flat footed before coolly planting it past Masaka with a delicate touch. That action proved to be the only meaningful moment in the clash as the game ended without any further activities in front of goal.Starting XIBidco United Daniel Odiwuor, David Kalama, Thomas Wainanina, Gabriel Wandera, Francis Oduor, Peter Nzuki, Lameck Oloo, John Owira, Samuel Ndung’u (Ezekiel Okare 62′), Henry Juma (Said Tsuma 62′), Benson Maina (Eric Gichimu 86′)SofapakaSimon Masaka, Wedu Brian, Okola Stephen, Otieno David (Maqbul Ochola 69′), Roy Okal, Baron Oketch (Ben Stanley Omondi 46′), Rody Manga, Titus Achesa, Ronack Otieno, Alex Imbusia (Kevin Okoth 46′), Sunday Ikekhai
