Mbappe’s brace and Messi’s injury time goal give PSG an undeserved victory over Lille

So much experienced international stars, and so much money spent over the years and yet the Parisians seem to rely on only one player – Kylian Mbappe. The Frenchman was again the saviour for PSG, as he scored two goals and prevented a total embarrassment at Parc de Princes, as Lille were leading 3-2 in the 87th minute. And in the 95th minute, world champion Lionel Messi finally woke up from his Qatar dream and scored a magnificent free kick goal for the totally undeserved victory: PSG – Lille 4-3.3 – Paris have not lost any of the 4 games in which they have conceded 3+ goals at home in Ligue 1 under QSI, (3-3 v Monaco, 4-3 v Bordeaux, Troyes and Lille) after losing each of the previous 32. Instead, they broke the nerves of their fans and waited until the 95th minute to secure a win in a game in which the guests were a better opponent. Lille had no fear and never gave up, even when they were 2-0 down after only 17 minutes. With an excellent display, the guests could taste the victory as they completely turned the game around and were leading 3-2 in the 87th minute but then Mbappe prevented the embarrassment before Messi delivered so much needed victory.📸 – Incredible scenes in Paris as the technical director Luis Campos has left the stands and is currently shouting to his own players from the sideline, with the manager behind him. pic.twitter.com/SOmSRvmNNK— 𝐀𝐅𝐂 𝐀𝐉𝐀𝐗 💎 (@TheEuropeanLad) February 19, 2023 Vitinha, Fabio Ruiz and Marco Verratti were totally ineffective and allowed themselves to be run over by Lille midfielders, worth as much as Verratti alone. Coach Galtier sent captain Marquinhos to the stands, but Presnel Kimpembe delivered a shaky performance. This is a much-needed win, but the coach and his sporting director Luis Campos will not be pleased at all. In fact, the Portuguese were so annoyed after the third Lille goal, that he came to the pitch from the stands and intentionally or not, his team turned the game around. In a weird situation, Campos was seen shouting to his players with coach Galtier next to him. As an experienced team, PSG used their chances and scored two goals in five minutes. The sign of things to come was Neymar’s perfect pass to all-alone Messi in the penalty area, but the Argentinian wasn’t so good and keeper Chevalier managed to save it. That was the 5th minute of the match and in the 12th, it was 1-0. And it’s one of the best Mbappe’s goals we saw this season. The French striker went into the penalty area, slipped the ball through the legs of a Lille defender, then passed between two players and again slipped the ball, this time through Chevalier’s legs for the lead. Five minutes later, Neymar used a lucky rebound after a Vitinha cross and just like that, it was 2-0.But if Lille used at least half of their chances in the first half, the score would be at least 2-2. The visitors had a chance in the first minute of the match, and then an even bigger one, after a mistake by Kimpembe. PSG keeper Donnarumma had to save the league leaders once again in the 21st minute when he parried the ball away after a David shot. And finally, the guests scored when Diakite put the ball into the bottom corner. The Italian keeper once again had a fantastic save in the 44th minute, after a great Diakite shot. The second half didn’t start well as Neymar twisted his ankle and had to leave the field in stretches. The bad PSG display continued and Lille completely took over. Verratti pushed Tiago Djalo and the referee pointed to the spot. And then the worst followed. After not waking up, PSG players were forced to take the ball out of the net for the third time, after a great Bamba goal. But Lille weren’t concentrated enough and allowed two late goals in the space of 10 minutes. Totally undeserved loss, but they will have to live with it.
