Gusii FC are targeting the top spot this coming weekend when they take on Mombasa Elite at home in the National Super League (NSL) in their next fixture, the club’s team manager Hillary Jim has affirmed. The side is set to benefit from free points after their match against Kajiado FC set to be played at the Ildamat Stadium in Kajiado was called off when the host failed to avail a well-equipped ambulance on time.”Our next match will determine whether we will take the number one spot. We play at home while they (Shabana) play away in a tough match. When we get the points from the walkover they will push us to 24 points, just one behind Shabana. We did not take advantage of the situation against Kajiado. In as much as I sympathize with the team, there are essential things that must be availed for the match to kick off. These are points that I believe we would have picked if we played the match. We came prepared to win the game but we could not let our players into the field when only a hollow ambulance was there,” the team manager noted.Narrating the whole incident that took place at the match venue, Jim highlighted that the ambulance arrived five minutes past three o’clock for the match that was scheduled to start at 3 PM.An inspection on the ambulance availed revealed that it only had oxygen tanks, and lacked all the other requisites as stipulated by the federation earlier this week in an email to another NSL club that sought clarification on the same.##NAJAVA_MECA_7041308##”The ambulance arrived at five past three o’clock yet the match was set to kick off at 3 PM. On checking the ambulance, we noticed that it only had oxygen and missed all the other necessary equipment. So they left and came back 35 minutes later but still they did not include most of the equipment required including the defibrillator and had to go back again. We were demanding for the game to end because it was almost approaching four o’clock but the federation requested us to wait a bit. At half past four, the ambulance was not yet back so the match was called off only for the ambulance to arrive five minutes later,” he narrated.NSL: Murang’a Seal-Gogo clash called off as Mara, Coastal Heroes winThis is the second match within four days to fail to take place in the same league, for the same reason. On Sunday, the match between Murang’a Seal and Darajani Gogo that was set to be played at St Sebastian Park did not take place after the home team failed to provide a well-equipped ambulance.
