KCB coach Zedekiah Otieno has said he would not mind resigning striker Derrick Otanga who has returned to the country after a failed professional stint in Libya.Describing the player as valuable, ‘Zico’ said no team in the Football Kenya Federation Premier League (FKFPL) will pass the chance to sign the striker.“He is a great player and if he is available and willing to play for us, why not, we will resign him. I don’t think there is any team in the league that cannot sign him,” he said.Former KCB striker Derrick Otanga has cut ties with Libyan club, Al-Ittihad Misurata SC after four months.#FKFPL pic.twitter.com/LrRK1MrZdT— Ole Teya (@TeyaKevin) February 19, 2023 Otieno said they still miss Otanga after he left the club at the end of last season but they have done their best to replace him.“When you look at our position in the table, you can see that we have done our best to perform without him. Perhaps we would be at the top with him. He was a really important part of our squad but we have learnt to go on without him,” he noted.Local and foreign clubs scrambling for Otanga’s signatureZico regretted that the player had not made it in Libya but was quick to add that he is not entirely surprised considering the pressure one undergoes playing as a striker abroad.“To be a striker, you must maintain a certain consistency in scoring goals. The problem with local strikers is that they do not score as consistently as they should. When you are signed by a team out there as a striker, you must score consistently to remain in their good books and so the pressure to perform remains week in week out,” he pointed out.##NAJAVA_MECA_7049888##Otanga returned to Kenya at the weekend just four months after signing for Libyan side Al-Ittihad Misurata.Last year he was the FKFPL top scorer after scoring 16 goals, a performance that attracted several suitors from outside the country.Otanga said the decision to leave Libya was by mutual consent.
