CAF CL: Simba, Vita and ES Tunis pick wins

Kenyan international Joash Onyango featured for 90 minutes as his Tanzanian club, Simba picked a 1-0 win over Uganda’s Vipers in a CAF Champions League match staged at the St. Mary’s Kitende Stadium on Saturday evening.Heading to the match, both teams were winless in group C. Vipers had lost to Radja Casablanca and drew with Horoya while Simba had lost to both teams and were rooted at the bottom of the group without a single point.##NAJAVA_MECA_7049895##20 minutes into the game, defender Henock Inonga scored what eventually proved to be the all-important after pouncing on an uncontested ball inside the Vipers’ goal area. Vipers were dealt a major blow just before the interval when captain Milton Karisa was forced off with an injury, Ibrahim Orit took his place. The second half was largely a Vipers affair but they lacked the cutting edge and it is no surprise that the team has not scored any goal since December 2022. They had much of the ball but could not cause the visitors many problems. Simba were a threat on the break. In the end the visitors walked away with three precious points.#TotalCafCL – GROUP B HT: @VipersSC 🇺🇬 0-1 @SimbaSC_EN 🇹🇿GOAL: Henock Inonga 20’1st ever club match under floodlights in Uganda has Vipers trail despite good chances to @Lumala12Abdu, @KarisaMilton & @YunusSentamu12.
