Kenya Police boss keen to add additional striker and keeper in mid-season transfer window

Kenya Police head coach Francis Baraza is keen to add a second striker and an experienced goalkeeper to his squad in the February mid-season transfer window in a bid to bolster the side ahead of the second half of the 2022/2023 campaign.Having taken over the club from the sacked Sammy ‘Pamzo’ Omollo back in December 2022, Baraza, who won the Kenya Premier League title with Sony Sugar in 2006, has transformed Police into potential title challengers as the team have only lost twice in fourteen games (8W 4D 2L).ASANTENI KWA KUJA@748AirServices @DCI_Kenya @betikaKe @Officialfkfpl @ntvkenya #communitypolicingthroughsports pic.twitter.com/UWqCmcpH3L— KENYA POLICE FC (@kenyapolicefc) March 1, 2023 While making plans for the business end of the season, Baraza, who returned to the country after stints in the Tanzania Premier League with Biashara United and Kagera Sugar, highlighted the two areas as departments that needed fortifying.“I do not want to add a lot of players to the team because the boys have already shown me that they are doing something which will get even better as we get to train and know each other. But after looking at all departments, I think I will be looking to add a second striker to help Elvis Rupia who has 12 goals so far. I am looking for someone to assist with the load.##NAJAVA_MECA_7059489##Another area will be in the goalkeeping department to provide competition to Job Ochieng. He has around 8 clean sheets and that goes to show he is doing well so I need someone who will challenge him,” the coach told Mozzart Sport. With Harambee Stars goalkeeper Faruk Shikhalo currently available after his stint at Mtibwa Sugar in Tanzania came to an end, Baraza revealed that he has one eye on the Kenyan international as a possibility to his needs.Harambee Stars coach Engin Firat to work with two local assistants, no foreign assistant“I am looking at him because we are trying to find who will bring the highest quality. Right now we are fighting to become champions so we need someone who will keep our keepers on toes. We already have other keepers in the team and I respect their hard work but it gets to a point where you must accept what we are trying to do,” he added.Police have already sealed the signing of Harambee Stars left back Abud Omar who joins the team from Greek side AEL Larissa where his contract was reportedly terminated on mutual consent back in June 2022.
